Following on from the January article on autoclaves ,this month we look at washer disinfectors.
In January we have designed and built a “state of the art” L.D.U in Manchester, which has an R.O water factory producing processed water to feed the autoclaves and washer disinfectors. Having used the water the autoclave dumps the water ,providing a complete cycle, without the need to manually fill or empty the water in the autoclave. The three autoclaves and two washer disinfectors validation data is transmitted straight to the computer in the administration area in the “clean area “.This data is encrypted and is user name ,password protected ,and the data can be e-mailed or printed off. This system ,providing the Practice has the internet can be accessed remotely so that our engineers can observe the behaviour of the equipment.
Onto the washer disinfectors............................................

In my humble opinion HTM01 Section 5 is being adhered to in many dental practices in the UK, as it is being properly policed and managed by local infection control leads, who are visiting practices to carry out thorough audits.
There is obviously a lot of knowledge to be gained by the Practice personnel so this month we look at facts in the form of a Q&A format starting this month with bench top sterilizers and next month we will cover washer disinfectors.
