Description
Aims and objectives:
Gain an understanding of the diagnosis and management of tooth erosion, taking into consideration:
- Dental caries, water fluoridation, fluoride toothpaste, patient education on diet and oral hygiene
- Periodontal disease, regular maintenance, patient education on OH and smoking cessation
- Recognising the early signs of dental erosion
- Increasing the awareness of the importance of erosion in patients with worn dentition
- Attrition, mastication or bruxism, physiologic or pathologic, context of age
- Abrasion, abnormal mechanical process
- Erosion, chemical loss of tooth structure - no bacteria, intrinsic, extrinsic
- Abfraction, multifactorial in the cervical area
- Implementation of an effective protocol to limit progression of erosive tooth wear
