I recently met a dental professional who told me work was no longer fun or rewarding.

They said that they feel like they are constantly rushing, racing against time and barely get any breaks. They feel they are under a lot of pressure of time and expectations. They cannot slip up. They get home totally exhausted and burnt out.

Dentistry is no longer exciting or resonating with them. They feel it does not light their spark anymore.

They were confused about which courses to go on. They felt most courses were related to certain outcomes which they did not value. Whether it was sales courses or aesthetic courses, that was not the kind of learning they needed or wanted. They didn't have the funds to do long programmes.

They felt like the patients didn't value them. They felt that they had studied hard but didn't feel either valued or appreciated by their teams and practices either. All the focus was, was on daily number targets and those who met those targets were celebrated. This was not them.

However they felt stuck and trapped. They had no choice. They could not just leave as they had bills to pay and financial commitments to stay with. They had no idea what else they could do or what other transferrable skills they could use.

They were in a vicious circle.

Is this you or do you know anyone who is in this place?
