Tubules Dental Communications Podcast. Part 3. The Game of Perspective and Consent.mp3

1. Do you sometimes feel like your patients are just not getting what you are saying?
2. Do you sometimes feel like you could do better with how you get your point across to patients?

What if we could help you overcome that

Well, here we go …this is that communication course for you Tubulites, to get understood.

This is a sequel to the reception training course we did. That course, still available on Dentinaltubules, focused on the communication skills for the reception team. This time it is for the clinical Tubulites to Get Listening. The dentists, hygienists, therapists, dental nurses– all of you who face patients’ day to day and have conversations with will find this useful.

You’re probably aware that some dentists and dental professionals somehow just seem to do better than others when it comes to winning the trust of patients. It almost feels like the clinician and the patient are speaking to each other with openness, warmth and feeling of connection. The patient values what the clinician says and normally accepts their recommendations without a lot of coaxing or cajoling. These are the same clinicians who rarely get complaints, if they do, and seem to enjoy their work.

This course explores, in depth, why we communicate and provides a consistent and reliable structure upon which to base your communication. The structure called CARES.
It explores some language patterns built around CARES.

Ultimately that is what it is about. We are healthcare professionals. The word CARE means the provision of what is necessary for the health, welfare, maintenance and protection of someone. HEALTHCARE therefore you are protecting and are vested in the welfare of someone’s health. Your patient’s health comes first. That is where it starts.

Kevin Rose is the owner and founder of Rose & Co and someone who has guided many practices in dentistry through transition and change. He is strong on values.

Simon Thackeray is the owner of Thackeray Dental Care, a private practice in Mansfield and a practitioner for over 30 years. He is strong on values and opinions.

Dhru Shah is the CEO of Dentinaltubules and a periodontist still in practice. Not sure how he does it all but he is strong on principles and intentions.

All of them have built their entities on the foundations of successful relationships. This requires trust and trust requires good communication skills as one of its pillars.
