As restorative dentists our goal is to restore the biomechanical, structural and aesthetic integrity of damaged teeth back to that of a natural tooth. But the natural tooth has a very unique configuration. Our aim is to accurately mimic this structure with the restorative materials and techniques we have available to us today, whilst at the same time adopting a conservative approach. This is the principle of Biomimetic Restorative Dentistry.

Aims & Objectives:

• To understand the principle and rationale of biomimetic restorative dentistry

• To develop an understanding of the clinical procedures and restorative materials used to apply the principle of biomimetic dentistry focussing on:

- Restoration design

- Adhesion

- Restorative Materials
